NAMPA, Idaho (KBOI) — A Nampa man has been sentenced to 40 years for downloading child porn.
The Canyon County Prosecutor's Office says Peter A. Cash was downloading pictures and videos of prepubescent children, many as young as 2 or 3 years old, at his home in Nampa earlier this year. Police received a tip on Cash's activity, and with a search warrant, found the illegal content on his computer and cell phone.
Prosecutors say Cash was planning to move to Canada where he had plans to have sexual intercourse with a woman and her 4-year-old son.
“The materials you admitted to keeping are sickening, repugnant and disgusting," said judge Davis F. VanderVelde. "The children in the videos are victims of disgusting abuse and these children will be victimized as long as these materials exist.”
Cash will have to serve a minimum of 18 years behind bars before he's eligible for parole. He's also been ordered to register as a sex offender and have no contact with children during his sentence.
“This is one of the most disturbing cases of child pornography that I have come across in my career as a prosecutor,” said Bryan Taylor, prosecutor Bryan Taylor. “Mr. Cash, who was diagnosed with pedophilia, is a tremendous danger to the community given his attraction to prepubescent children and his plan to sexually abuse a child. Judge VanderVelde’s sentence ensures those most vulnerable in our community, children, are protected for years to come.”
