An Idaho woman is dead and police have charged her long-time boyfriend with murder.

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office says officers were called to check on Tina Swor, 56, of Spirit Lake on Monday after friends and family hadn't heard from her for several days.

They found her dead inside a home on the 4000 block of W. Delaware. She had been shot multiple times.

Police identified John D. Dalton, 55, as a person of interest shortly after.

At about 6 p.m. on Wednesday, someone reported seeing Dalton walking in St. Maries. A Benewah County Sheriff deputy found and detained him.

A search warrant was granted for a hotel nearby, which police say led to the recovery of evidence of the crime. Dalton was then charged with murder and booked into the Kootenai County Public Safety Building.
